Are you passionate about ideas and storytelling? Enjoy working with designers and other creatives? Casson Mann is looking for an Interpretation Assistant to join our friendly and collaborative interpretative design team in Old Street, London.

We are looking for a clever, creative and motivated team-player, with outstanding communication skills and a can-do attitude. You will need to be able to turn your mind to a range of subjects, balance competing demands and write for different audiences.  

 Essential Skills and Experience:

·  Educated to degree level 

·  More than one years’ professional experience in a museum, cultural organisation, specialist design agency or within a research or communications field 

·  Experience of writing copy for different needs and different audiences e.g. marketing, descriptive, interpretative 

·  Excellent and demonstrable communication skills, including writing, researching, or editing 

·  Excellent interpersonal skills, and experience of dealing with clients, who might include curators, subject expertsand stakeholders 

·  Computer literacy, preferably includingIn-Design and Keynote 

Desired Skills and Experience:

·  Knowledge of the exhibition design process 

·  Knowledge of the working practices of museums and cultural or heritage attractions 

·  Understanding of audiences and visitor behaviour 

·  Curation experience, including the care and presentation of objects 

·  Experience of collaborative working, including community participation projects   

·  Specialism within a particular academic field e.g. history, science 

·  Foreign language skills (particularly French)

The Role

This is a full-time position based in Casson Mann’s London studio in the City. You will work as part of the content team and in support of the Director of Content, researching subjects for museum and exhibition design projects as well as new business, contributing ideas and knowledge within design meetings. There may be some requirement to travel to client meetings and attend site visits. 

You will be expected to familiarise yourself quickly with the practice’s standard working procedures and design phases. You will be required to input ideas at all stages of the design process, working with the designers and directors to assist in the preparation of content notes for meetings, devising interpretative tablesand other creative briefing documents.    

You will work in support of the studio manager to pursue and secure new business. This will involve organising and preparing marketing materials, including pitches and tender responses. 

You will take some responsibility for Casson Mann’s marketing activity. This will include preparing awards submissions, managing the website and social media, preparing presentations and press releases.
