The National Geographic Reader Awards celebrate the best places, experiences, hotels, operators, authors, podcasts and more, as shortlisted by our editors and voted for by readers.
The magazine writes: "Harrowing and powerful, the individual tales from some of the six million Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust — told through personal objects, such as clothing, toys and musical instruments — are monuments to the need for fierce vigilance and determined progress."
