The Holocaust Galleries, designed by Casson Mann, open in October 2021

The Evening Standard report on Imperial War Museums’ new The Holocaust Galleries, which have been designed by Casson Mann. Developed over five years, the galleries will open on 20th October 2021.

The new galleries replace the current Holocaust Exhibition at IWM London, which opened in 2000. The Holocaust Galleries have been developed using the most up to date research and evaluation, including archive material only available since the end of the Cold War. Individual stories from some of the six million Jewish people murdered in the Holocaust will be told through over 2,000 photos, books, artworks and letters, and personal objects ranging from jewellery and clothing to toys and keepsakes.

“A surviving section of a concentration camp building will go on show in the Imperial War Museums' new Holocaust galleries after it sat unnoticed in a German back garden for more than 50 years. The wooden wall, complete with its original paint and an intact window, was part of a barracks building that housed some of the more than 700 women imprisoned at Velten near Berlin."
