River and Rowing Museum

Henley 1998

We liked the idea of bringing the river into the River and Rowing museum. A shallow glass tank was set high on the wall and filled with moving water – the polished plaster wall below captured its reflections and shadows. When small oars row the water, the pattern ripples. We wanted the visitor to have the option of getting more involved, so a coin donation also activates the oars and triggers a random sound from a store of river noises.
