Exhibition Space for ZAYA
Cityscape, Dubai 2008
ZAYA STAND CONCEPT
At Cityscape the design brief is always to stand out, get noticed, to shout the loudest… the end result is always cacophony.
Our brief is also to stand out, to be the best in fact, but how to do that when everybody else is shouting?
Take a different route.
Within such a visually busy context establish strength in simplicity. Strive for a rigorous clarity. Dare to be quietly bold.
Taking the venue massing rules as the starting point we have created the largest single form permissible (a 10 × 10 × 6m high block). It sits within the overall footprint of the stand as a stark object: a simple deep brown box – calm, confident, an island in a sea of stands clamouring for our attention. It is not solid however, it has been lifted off of the floor, and its seemingly monolithic appearance peeled back in places, to reveal a dynamic heart – an inner glow that emanates out and invites discovery.
