Energy Gallery - 'Fueling the Future'
Science Museum, London, 2004
The Science Museum commissioned us to create a new Energy Gallery for their East Wing. They asked to create a design that knitted together eleven installations by different contributors and also allowed each to speak as an individual piece. One installation acted as the central point, with all the other pieces placed on a tangent to this: a single point of energy with the other installations ‘spinning out’ from it. The Energy Ring, a 40 metre long white LED screen wrapped to form a ring of dynamic white light, is suspended in the three storey atrium of the Science Museum’s East Hall. This totemic circle is both an expression of Newtonion physics and a compelling interactive medium for visitor feedback.
